Volunteers Needed

Before we fundraise, we need volunteers to help gather partners.

Equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) utilizes horses to assist with counseling for individuals of all ages and is used in partnership with more traditional treatment. EAP is a successful method of reaching children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, and other neurodiverse abilities by providing an outdoor experience that allows them to use all senses while learning and processing emotional challenges. Yet, many of the children and families that could use EAP services may not have the resources available to them. This is where you come in!

We need volunteers to make some calls to gather the names of potential EAP families. We are creating a list of children in need of our services in West Texas that and those who made need sponsorships. We also need those volunteers to help create a list of EAP providers we can partner with to help fund supplies for their horses. We have witnessed firsthand how our services touch those riders and make positive changes in their lives and, in turn, their families' lives.

What You Get in Return

Volunteers who assist us can earn rides for their neurodiverse family members in their area. As we grow, we will definitely need volunteers for ranch and horse maintenance, but right now, we need help from volunteers without ever leaving their homes.

What is Requested

Our objective is to create an EAP network. The two areas of focus will be EAP facilities and providers in Texas and families who need to access the services in the same geographic area. We need research volunteers to find these providers and families. We also need volunteers to make calls, emails, or letters on our behalf.

To find out more, please email jon@abilitiesranch.org and tell me a little about yourself and your child. We could assist with EAP in trade for the time you provide to help us.
